We will be selling pies out of the office (the green house) on Friday, April 19th and Friday, April 26th. For April 19th hours will be 10am-noon, 1pm-4pm. Come by and pick up a pie!

Easter Pies!

If you would like to order a pie for Easter we will be baking on Friday, March 29th. Orders need to be in by Monday, March 25th. We will not be baking extra pies so if you would like a pie please be sure to call The Farm at (831) 455-2575.
Pies can be picked up at the office (in green house) Friday, March 29th, 11am-noon and 3pm-5pm (the office will be closed noon-3pm in observance of Good Friday).
We will not have Strawberry Rhubarb available in March.

Farming strawberries and pie

We began baking pies two years ago because we grow a lot of strawberries and rhubarb. We grow strawberries and rhubarb because, well, we’re farmers. But farming, these days, isn’t just about farming. A lot of farmers have to diversify in order to make ends meet. That’s why we started baking pies. Diversification. So, diversification for us means flaky crusts, hot convection ovens, and different fillings, such as strawberry rhubarb, apple, ollalieberry, pecan, mixed berry, and quite a lot of other flavors.

Therefore, in pie-farming terminology, if anyone asks you, “what came first, the chicken or the egg,” you just tell them “the strawberry.”

If you stop by on Tuesdays and Fridays, most weeks, we’ll have pies fresh out of the oven. Our oven. Our pies. Baked for you.

What we’re harvesting these days…

It’s getting on toward the end of June and we’re almost at the height of summer production. Almost, but not quite. Once we start picking corn and tomatoes, then that’s the real zenith.

Anyway, these days we’re harvesting strawberries, various lettuces (iceberg, romaine, green leaf, red leaf, red butter and green butter), sugar snap peas, snow peas, green beans, red beets, gold beets, carrots, celery, broccoli, parsley, cilantro, red Swiss chard, red kale, dinosaur kale, rhubarb, and radishes.

Organic Strawberries at The Farm

The Farm will be celebrating Strawberry Day this Saturday, May 26. The long, cold spring has slowed down strawberry production all across the Salinas Valley, but we still can honor one of the most wonderful fruits in the world. We’ll begin at 11am with a talk about strawberries and strawberry farming by a local berry grower. Afterward, we’ll have tractor hayrides around The Farm’s fields.
