WHAT EXACTLY IS A CSA? CSA is the acronym for Community-Supported Agriculture. In a nutshell, farmers create CSAs by allowing people to sign up in advance to receive fresh, seasonal produce. It’s kind of like buying a subscription for a newspaper, but instead of a newspaper, you’re getting a box of fresh, organic produce once a week. And, just like not knowing what the news in the newspaper is going to be like, you won’t know what the produce is each week until you get your box. The beauty of a CSA is, in addition to a great discount on price, it encourages you to eat what is seasonal.
Our CSA boxes are a great deal. You’ll get a lot more organic produce for your dollar! The boxes include a variety of organic items, about ten different things each week. According to the time of year, our boxes contain produce such as sweet corn, strawberries, cauliflower, broccoli, celery, lettuces, cucumbers, summer squashes, zucchini, beets, carrots, fresh herbs, apples, lemons, figs, bell peppers, radishes, melons, onions, leeks, artichokes, green beans, snap peas, fennel, and more. Also, we occasionally include a fresh-baked item from our Farm bakery as well, such as pie-bars, cookies, and mini pies!
For 2016, our CSA program begins on May 12 and ends on November 10, for a total of 27 weeks. You may obtain a signup form at The Farm or print out a copy from here: Farm CSA 2016. Please drop off your filled-out signup form at The Farm. You may join the CSA at any time during the season. Also, you can join for any number of weeks, from 1 week to the entire remainder of the season.
